Our Barrel

A handmade wooden barrel with a capacity of 12,000 octaves, which is about 14 tons, is located in the basement of the Monastery of St. Nicholas in Metsovo. It dates back to 1782, while there is a written reference in the book 'Notebook of a Metsovite' by the late George Plataris, dated 1795.

It is available for visitation during the opening hours of the monastery of Agios Nikolaos in Metsovo.
