The oenologist of Imperator, Sophocles Petropoulos, studied oenology in Athens, completed postgraduate studies in Australia and a doctorate at the Agricultural University of Athens. He has a decade of experience in the wineries of Nemea, and since 2014 has been consulting for wineries in Greece and Lebanon.

He studied oenology in Athens and continued with postgraduate studies in Australia, one of the reference countries in modern oenology. He completed his doctorate at the Agricultural University of Athens.
He worked for more than ten years in the wineries of Nemea, Greece's largest red-wine region. Since 2014 he has been active as a consulting oenologist, both in Greece and in Lebanon.

He participates in research on unclassified Greek grape varieties and clones. This part of his work connects directly to Imperator: the monovarietal vinification of a variety like Vlachavona, which exists nowhere else, is exactly the kind of undertaking that needs an oenologist with knowledge of native and little-studied varieties.
