THE NAME
Valia Calda means "Warm Valley" in Vlach. It is the name of the Pindus National Forest, protected since 1966, today the eastern core of the North Pindus National Park. The same park stretches to Zagori, whose Cultural Landscape was inscribed in 2023 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Valia Calda borders that landscape, in the same Pindus highlands where the vineyards of Imperator are grown.
TASTING NOTES
Deep purple colour, clear, with intense and slow tears. Nose intense, with the character of Cabernet Sauvignon rounded by Merlot: ripe black fruit, cedar, cigar, held together by the discreet presence of new oak.
Tightly knit on the palate, with dense structure, full body, austere yet refined and ripe tannins, satisfying acidity. Intense and complex finish.
AGEING
Matured in French oak barrels, in the cellar of the Holy Monastery of Agios Nikolaos. Cellaring potential of 8 to 15 years.
